O TAHITI NUI FREEDOM

 Canoe of the crossing

The canoe

Form:              1 principal hull, 1 beam, 2 beams

Sails :              mixed fore-and-aft + jib

Dimension:     principal hull : Lht = 15,25m/50ft

outrigger :       Lht beam = 14,50/47ft

Crew:              6 people

The outrigger canoe of the crossing is inspired by a historical plan drawn in Tahiti by the Admiral Paris around 1820 (standard plank of wood and stich construction).

The cabinet of naval architecture “NG Yacht Design”, and respecting the  measures issued by the Maritime Affairs in order to meet current standards, redrew the internal structure of the canoe and keeping the line drawn by the Admiral Paris.

Insubmersible, light and fast, the canoe will be built out of wood epoxy, with construction standards of ships of category I.

The complete report/ratio of construction with estimate of weight, stability, structural analyses and hydrostatic, buoyancy, plan of foaming, manufacturing drawings, hulls, outrigger (ama), beams (iato) will be offered to the governments and associations along our way, in order to propose a solution to the difficult compromise of traditional construction adapted to current standards.
